Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Karai!!!
Karai is a 5-year-old, beagle TWCH beagle mix, who's been with us since fall 2020. Karai came to us transferred in from another rescue. She was extremely feral, supposedly. With time she showed us she is timid and shy but curiosity gets the best of her, always. Karai needs a home that will, embrace her curiosity, encourage her and not feel bad or sorry for her. She needs patience and nurturing, but an environment where she will not be held back nor limited. Be confident it's all okay.
Every day is new to her as she improves. We do not shelter her or take any outrageous precautions to accommodate her insecurities. We encourage and expose her and introduce her to as many things, places, toys, food, locations, and adventures as possible. She is thriving and continues to thrive and improve every day! Karai is great with all dogs. She is best in the home with other dogs. She can be very playful with all dogs, and respectful of cats. Older kids would be best, if any.
Karai loves her daily walks, a nice fence in the yard 4 ft minimum is a must, and a home with at least one other balanced, active, playful outgoing dog who will help her continue to overcome her fears is preferred. Karai is very food motivated. Oh, man is she ever! Loves all food! She is still a bit jumpy but each day we notice improvement. Patience is the key to best helping her be the best dog she was meant to be. Plus she's so sweet and calm and best of all LAZZZYYY!
Karai is house and crate trained, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto and corona as well as rabies, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped including free registration, spay, and current on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention.

We believe training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues that arise, need to be addressed and/or rewarded. Understanding that continued training is a lifetime commitment, is very important. Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. Meet & Greets are a required before proceeding with an adoption. We DO NOT ship any of our pets.

More about this rescue
Every animal in our care comes to us with their own story. Many of them have had it harder than others, and have scars that need a healing touch. What they all have in common, is that they came to us from other rescues/shelters that felt they couldn’t take on their individual needs, and give them the necessary care needed to help them bloom into family pets. Most pets we welcome into our program, need extensive behavior and/or medical care before they are ready for their forever homes. We provide each pet with an unlimited amount of time to recover, along with individualized care and training customized to there needs.
We at Animal House Sanctuary love a challenge and have a soft spot for these special pets in need. Most of all, we love seeing each individual pet change into the family pet they were always meant to be. Watching this firsthand, is beyond rewarding and fills us with a joy that cannot be described in words.
We are a 501(c) Licensed Nonprofit organization that is ran 100% by Volunteers. Our mission is to help homeless animals find great forever homes. Our heart is with the community, helping families keep their pets at home. We are involved with informing our local community about the importance of spaying/neutering their pets. We also help feed the homeless and their pets. Senior pets are precious and dear to our hearts which is why we are involved with the Hospice Heaven program. This consists of pulling older cats and dogs from high kill shelters and placing them in a loving home. This often includes matching senior pets with a Senior Adaptor. Sharing joy and respect for all precious life is something that we love doing, and will continue to do, for it fills our hearts.
