My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sugar Magnolia and Mr. Bojangles are a bonded pair of jack russell/ beagle mixes. Sugar Magnolia is a 4 to 5 year old female who weighs 21 lbs. She arrived pregnant with her companion Mr. Bojangles, a 23 lb male, who is 3 to 4 years old. Unfortunately these 2 obviously suffered from mistreatment and neglect in the past and are fearful of new people and still have insecurities in their foster home after 2cyears. They are housebroken but are trained to a dog door with a fenced yard. These two must have a secure fenced yard that is attached to the house and one they cannot dig out of. An electric fence, kennel or run are absolutely not an option. They have been around respectful children and have done fine; however, because they are fearful and are a flight risk if they get out of the fence, a quiet adult only home or one with respectful, older chikdren is preferred. A home with young children under the age of 5 is not an option due to the level of activity and noise that ensues. They are both good with dogs and cats. They do get on furniture now, so if you don't allow dogs on furniture; these are not the dogs for you. These guys will require an experienced and patient home ( no first time dog owners). They cannot live in a city or suburban environment but rather require a quiet, rural area and a house (no apartments and you must own your home). They are affectionate and playful dogs once they trust you but do have fear issues. Mr. Bojangles is on a joint supplement due to a slightly abnormal gait in his right hind. They will require someone who can invest time in making more than 1 visit to gain their trust. If you are interested in adopting these two and meet all their requirements, go to www.journeyanimalrescue.org to submit an application. Only once an application is completely approved (including a vet check and home check) will a meet and greet be scheduled. This requires all human and canine family members come to Fryeburg, Maine to meet them. Adoption fee for the pair is 700.
