My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! My name is Pearl. I am a spayed, 5 -6 year old, 50 lb, Pit/Lab mix. I have been patiently waiting for my forever family to find me(okay, not that patiently) Here's what I am looking for in my forever home:

Experience with my breed (Pit bull terrier)

A quiet, calm home with a structured routine and not a lot of people coming and going. Strangers scare me.

Someone who is home much of the time (I don't like to be alone)

Regular walks and exercise. I love to play fetch.

A room I can call my own. I need a safe space where I can be away from things that make me anxious. You can have visitors but we will all be happier if I am not forced to interact with them. No crates please. They make me feel trapped and I will do my best to escape even if I get hurt in the process.

The opportunity to be the only child. Having my people all to myself would be blissful. I like older kids but prefer not to live with the hubbub they can create.
I am selective about my dog friends so I am happiest if I don't need to share my home with another dog.

An owner who has dog training experience or is willing to work with a trainer to help me feel more relaxed and confident.

I am a very sweet girl. I know I sound a bit demanding but I will totally make it worth your while. Snuggling up and keeping you warm while you binge watch TV is one of my specialties. I know lots of tricks: sit, down, paw and high five. I can snap treats right out of the air when you throw them to me gently. Did I tell you I love treats?

Up to date on all vaccines, negative for Heartworm and Lyme diseases and microchipped too, I am waiting on pins and needles to meet the love of my life.

NOTE: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
