Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Rue! She is a gorgeous 8mos old female dogo with lots of love to give. Once she warms up to you, you get lots of kisses and big hugs! She is shy at meeting new people but has really come out of her shell the last couple of weeks as she learns about trust and love. Rue really enjoys running around and fast as she can the hop as high as she can! We think this name fits her since she is Rue the Kangaroo around here!
Rue really loves playing with Cinna and we are working on introducting her to other female dogs but taking it slow since we want this to be succesful. Being so young there are so many good habits they can still learn! She is the type of dogo that will make you laugh without even trying, there is just something about her that puts a smile on your face! We do not know how she will do with cats or children but based on what we observe, a home without cats and very young kids is probably best for her.
Dogos are a wonderful breed but we urge anyone interested to dig in and do a lot of research before deciding if they are a good fit for your home. They require a lot of attention and training with them never ends! Boundaries must be enforced and they often need reminders as they push past boundaires you set! Dogos are loving, kind and gentle but don't mistake that for weakness because they are equally powerful and intense as well! Everyone in the home must be on board with having a dogo and play a major role in their daily routines and training. Yes it is work, but the rewards are ten-fold! Lazy homes don't work for dogos as they need stimulation, exercise, and lots of attention too during their younger years. Our goal in rescue is to be as transparent as we can about each and every dog plus make sure new families really understand the needs of a dogo!
