My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shamrock is a gorgeous seven-month-old, crested or crowned guinea pig looking for loving guardian, as are her three-week-old daughters Meg and Peg.

The babies need to stay with their mother for at least one more week, but can also be adopted with her to live with her forever.

Momma is extremely handleable, but guinea pig babies move very fast and will need daily socializing … not the most suitable for young children.

Guinea pigs eat a diet of unlimited Timothy hay and (or Orchard hay - better if you have allergies), limited pellets, and fresh greens including romaine, red leaf and green leaf lettuces, cilantro, etc. And, since guinea pigs can’t manufacture their own vitamin C, they need daily Vitamin C which they get from their pellets, greens, treats, or fresh orange or pepper (if they’ll eat it!).

Please read up on guinea pig care and diet before adopting by visiting this excellent web site http://www.guinealynx.info/

They all need a loving family who will handle them daily, keep them well fed, and keep their habitat nice and clean.

If you’re interested in meeting and possibly adopting Shamrock, Meg and Peg please contact friendsofpetraits@gmail.com

They are being fostered in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood.

Their adoption fee of $35 each benefits the Friends of Petraits Rescue.

For an additional $100, we’ll include an extra large cage for all three, and everything you need to care for them including hay, litter, food, hidey hut and water bottle.
