My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Panda is a good boy! He is a Sheltie mix who is about 10-11 years old (as of May 2020). He loves attention but does not seek it out as much as Harley. (Harley and Panda came from the same poor living situation.) Panda is pretty calm and happy to lay beside you and be pet. He does fine with my dogs, cat, and son (12 years old), but is not recommended for someone with young children. He is doing great working on housebreaking with a doggie door which is impressive given that he was allowed to go to the bathroom inside his last house :-(. Panda and Harley will eat out of the same food bowl so from what I have seen there is no food aggression. He is neutered, current on vaccines, and tested negative for heartworm and tick borne illnesses. Due to a life of being neglected, he's being treated for ear infections and will need to be seen for a skin infection. He is also currently overweight, but we are working on his diet. Please be ready to give him the BEST life!!

FOSTER UPDATE 6/18: Panda continues to do well with my little dog and cats in foster! He'd do best in a home with other dogs to keep him company or a home with a stay at home/work from home/retiree type situation. He would not be a great match for little children. He'd probably do ok with calm, dog-savvy 9-10 yo or older if it's a generally quiet household. He is housetrained now, after coming into rescue without this skill, although will likely need reinforcement in a new home. But he is a quick study and gets on new routines very fast! He is a sweet boy who wants to be with his people and pack and is ready to settle into his forever home!

FOSTER UPDATE 7/31: Panda continues to flourish in foster. He is spry for his age but quiet in the house....the best of both worlds!! He remains solid in his house training. He is such a pleasure to have in the house! He's a happy go lucky guy who wants to be where the people and pack are. He is content to lay quietly in the kitchen when I'm cooking, go on a walk in the park, romp in the yard with my dog, or Netflix and chill. He will alert to people at the door but never barks excessively and will stop when asked to do so. He continues to gain confidence when we go to new places and meet new people. Someone is going to get very lucky to have this companion in their home!!

If interested in adopting, please visit www.masrescue.org and click on "Adopt Here". Beginning June 30th, 2017, MAS Rescue will charge a $10 non refundable administrative application processing fee. 100% of this fee will be for our rescued animals in need. To be clear: 1. No dog application will be processed until the $10 fee is paid via PayPal link on our website: http://www.masrescue.org/helpus.html.
2. The $10 is non refundable. Should you be approved and adopt an animal through MAS Rescue, you will receive a $10 credit to your adoption fee.
3. Paying the application fee is in no way a guarantee that you will be approved to adopt an animal through MAS Rescue. All of the same standards in processing applications still apply. See our policies and procedures: http://www.masrescue.org/pnp.html
4. By submitting an application and paying the $10 application fee, you agree to the terms listed above. If you do not adopt through MAS Rescue or your application is rejected, this serves as your notice of the application fee policy. The Adoption Fee is $300.00. Please Note: 100% of all the adoption fees collected are used to care for the animals, and pay our ever increasing vet bill. We appreciate your interest in adopting from a rescue organization. We understand the desire to meet our "cuties" as soon as possible, but because we operate entirely out of foster homes, we need to limit visitation to approved applicants only. Once your completed application is submitted by you and approved by MASR, we will be glad to schedule your visit. This dog has been examined by our vet, spayed or neutered (if not previously done), vaccinations updated, heartworm negative, and has been microchipped. Breed Selection is 'Best Efforts' given by shelter staff, veterinarians and rescue volunteers. NO guarantees are implied. We do not guarantee housebreaking. Consistency and patience are key! Dogs benefit greatly from Obedience Training - and we encourage you to check out http://www.pupsdogobediencetraining.com/ . They offer a great discount for training of dogs coming from MAS Rescue! Please note that small breeds are not well designed for families with young children as everything about them is more delicate and will require careful handling. Remember adoption is a commitment for the lifetime of your new furry friend; dogs could live 15 years or more!!
