My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maggie stands short for Magnolia, which was the nae the Shelter gave her. New start, new name.... Maggie was impounded as a stray in a kill shelter. She is a German Shepherd beauty with 1 floppy ear. She weighs about 70lbs but needs to put on a bit more weight. She does know a few commands, walks pretty well on a leash and rides good in a car. She does well with other dogs her size but is definitive an alpha dog. She does NOT good with cats or small dogs. Maggie would like an active family who would not be first time dog owners and do have experience with dogs, or even the Shepherd breed, preferably with a yard or at least someone who goes out walking longer than 15 minutes besides the occasional potty breaks. Maggie went for a trial and was returned a day later. The couple was great and Maggie loved the whole family but she did not like the couple's friend. We know now more than before that Maggie needs a person with experience who is consistent and not thrown off by her guarding. She is a sweet heart and will cuddle with you and anyone on the couch but will be extremely selective who is coming through your door. She just does what the instinct of an socialized Shepherd does but it can be fixed.
She just needs the right person to give her a chance. She is about 1 year old, does well with people and kids too but we prefer older kids and a low to medium traffic household. As sweet as she is we don't think she is a good fit for a first time dog owner. Someone with experience is needed.

If you would like to meet Maggie, please send us a message and we will forward you an application. We are only able to meet with pre approved applicants by appointment
