My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Honey and her son, Charlie, are former strays who were taken in by a kind older woman. She gave them a loving home for many years, but she was no longer able to care for them. Her family left them alone with minimal human interaction for several months and planned on turning them out on the street. Thankfully, a compassionate neighbor ensured that they were fed and reached out to Chicago Cat Rescue for help. Honey and Charlie were pretty traumatized when they arrived at their foster home, but with a lot of love and patience, their awesome personalities re-emerged. The have so much love to give and are ready for their forever home. They are a bonded pair: Charlie is very attached to Honey and will cry for her and look for her if he doesn’t know where she is. They regularly check in with each other by head butting and rubbing cheeks with one another.

Honey is a teeny-tiny 10-year-old lady with the softest fur. She loves eating, climbing, being brushed, and playing with toys. She is very affectionate and will tap you with her paw when she wants more pets. She will give a high five for treats indefinitely. When you lie down, she enjoys laying close to you and may climb onto your lap or chest if the mood strikes.

Charlie is a chonky boy and a bit of a clown! He’s approximately 9-years-old and still plays like a kitten. He loves butt pats, being brushed, eating, re-arranging furniture, and using his scratching posts. If you want his attention, baby talk brings him running. He also likes being sung to! Charlie head butts to show affection, and given his considerable bulk, he’s not to be ignored. Charlie isn’t a lap cat, but he loves being close to you and will follow you around. Charlie will eat just about anything. He definitely isn’t a fussy kitty!

At Chicago Cat Rescue, we are dedicated to both the physical and emotional well being of the cats and kittens in our care. For this reason, unless expressly stated, we do not place cats or kittens in homes where they will be the only cat. Generally cats love the company of other cats, and can become quite lonely when living alone.

Kittens will only be placed in pairs, or to join another kitten or young cat in your home.

CCR adopts to homes in Chicago, or to homes that are within a few miles of our foster families. We do not ship cats or kittens. No exceptions.

Chicago Cat Rescue is an entirely foster based organization. Our ability to help more cats in need is dependent on our availability of foster homes. If you think you could provide a loving foster situation for a cat in need, or would like to learn more about our foster program, please email us, info@chicagocatrescue.org. Thank you!
