My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Clank is a shy timid boy, he came to HSSA as an owner release due to previous owners being unable to properly care for him and his siblings. At intake he was very nervous but allowed us to complete the exam with no issues. He has lived with many cats and has done well. We have no history with him and dogs or kids, so please do a slow intro to any children or animals in the home.

Clank can be very shy and is not completely comfortable with handling. It is very important that when he finds his forever family, his family understands that he is shy, but with time, he should be able to open up and become comfortable. It will probably take him 6 months or more for adjustment time.

When Clank gets into his new home, he should start out in a single room (i.e. the bedroom, office) that still gets a lot of foot traffic but isn't as overwhelming as opening him up to the entire house. It is very important to visit with him multiple times a day (first starting by just talking to him and gradually working your way up to petting him and coaxing him out with treats). He will most likely hide at first, and should stay in the single room until he is actively coming out and seeking attention on his own. Once Clank is adjusted and seems relaxed in the single room, you can slowly introduce him to the rest of the house and the other pets.

We would recommend calm, older children in the household as he is nervous/uncomfortable with handling, and has never been around children.
