My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Meet Cooper!  He is absolutely beautiful and huge!  He weighs 118 pounds, and with very long legs he carries his weight well.  Born around October 2017, he is the biggest lap dog you will ever love!

Super Cooper is sweet, happy, and full of love.  He will steal your heart.  He is so silly and always has a smile!  He is a love bug who loves to give and receive hugs.

His favorite spot is wherever you are.  He adores laying at your feet, snuggling next to you on the couch, and sleeping near you at night.  He is an excellent work-from-home partner, although he snores a bit!

Cooper was born with luxating patellas (knees that sometimes move out of proper position) and weak hocks (ankles that have poor ligament support).  SPIN worked with excellent orthopedic vets who determined that the best course of action for Cooper is to continue strengthening his leg muscles through exercise.
Coop loves to walk; how far and how fast depends on how his legs are feeling.  You will need to watch him to see when he is getting tired.

He recovered so thoroughly during his stay with us, you’d never know that he has a bad backend.  His legs have gotten stronger from walks and from playing with the other dogs in his foster home.

Cooper will need to stay on carprofen/Rimadyl, glucosamine/Cosequin to support his continued improvement.  He loves his pills when they’re wrapped in Velveeta cheese!  He loves anything wrapped in Velveeta!

Coopie loves playing with doggy friends. He would do well in a home with other dogs.  He would also do well as an only dog with occasional play dates or doggy day care.  Having his human at home a lot would be his preference.  In fact, Cooper will welcome you home with exuberance any time you leave even if it’s just a short trip to the grocery store.  You will feel like a celebrity every time you come home!

Cooper is very smart and learns quickly. He is wonderful on leash. He is house trained and pet door trained.

He is a Pyrfect gentleman while being bathed.

If he must be contained for some reason, he will tolerate being in a large exercise pen. But it’s really not necessary to contain him.

Cooper is not a fan of cats, even when they’re only on tv!

He is a wonderful travel companion.  On the way to his adventure, he is smiley and active in the car, watching everything go past. He sleeps quietly the whole way home.

His forever family needs to be diligent about keeping him active and keeping his hind muscles strong so he can continue to adequately support his imperfect legs.  His use of stairs should be limited.

Cooper is the absolute most loving dog who will bring so much happiness to his forever family who will care for him, flaws and all!  Are you ready to step up and be this loving guy’s super hero family?

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
