Cindy is a very special girl and a favorite at the rescue. She has not had the best past and we believe she is still recovering from neglect and possibly abuse. Cindy is extremely fearful of people however she loves all dogs and is very brave as long as other dogs are around her. She will thrive in a very patient home with other dogs.
Cindy completed a two week training program and made great strides in trusting people. She is currently in a foster home and that has also helped her become more trusting. She gets along well with both male and female dogs. Cindy's automatic reaction is to run from people, however her foster family says she stays in the house as long as one of the dogs is inside. When she starts getting use to you she will playfully bark. She loves to play with toys and is not toy aggressive.
Cindy goes outside to use the bathroom and will chew on a bone or toy when inside the house. The trainer suggested a large kennel to help her get use to a new home as it will provide a place she can retreat to in order to feel safe. He also suggested having a blanket over the kennel.
Cindy is doing well in her foster home and the family said they have given her space and allowed her to go in and out at her discretion. She started sleeping in a bed in the master bedroom and will follow family members around and get close from time to time. She is very gentle with people but still very fearful so she isn't wanting a lot of attention. She loves being inside where it is cool and uses the dog door to go outside when she uses the bathroom.

House Manners: Cindy uses the dog door to go outside and use the bathroom. She has not had any accidents while in her foster home.
Basic Training: Walks well on a leash and the foster family has started using a harness.
Other Dogs: GREAT with other dogs and must go to a home with other dogs.
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Since Cindy is fearful of people we are unsure of how she will do around young children. We have seen no aggression however she does not respond to affection.
Fencing: Cindy has not attempted to dig out or jump a 5ft fence. She will do fine in a normal fenced in secure yard. Since she is fearful of people and would be very difficult to catch if she gets loose, a locked gate would be best. if she does get loose another dog will draw her to you if needed.
The adoption fee is $125. Cindy has had her age appropriate Vaccinations brought up to date with Rabies shot (4 m & older), heartworm tested (4 m & older) and/or started on prevention, basic dewormer, spayed or neutered and microchipped by 24Petwatch with free registration , and also comes with 30 days of free 24Petwatch Pet Insurance .
