My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Ruby was like a legend in a rural area south of Weatherford.  She has been seen by many individuals and many have tried to help her but she wouldn't let anyone close to her.  Ruby has been a mother many times and some of her puppies have been rescued. After one of her litter of pups died and our rescue efforts turned to trapping her.  After several days, she was caught and the process of vetting and building trust began.

Although she didn't trust us, she never showed her teeth or growled.  Check out her video to see her personality.  She does enjoy playing now, something that took several months. She is still very shy but has gotten more comfortable with people. She has been in the shelter over three and a half years. She was trapped in Feb of 2020.

Looking for a super special home for this girl.  With a one on one situation, we believe that she will build the trust she needs to be a companion.  She does well with other dogs, so a home with another dog might help her adjust as well.  Cats are not her friends.  She will need a secure fenced yard as she is still considered a flight risk.

Additional adoption info

FRIENDS FOR LIFE

When you adopt an animal either a dog or a cat, you are taking on a lifetime commitment. Healthy dogs and cats live to between 10 and 15 years. To raise a pet properly, you must take on the care and treatment to the fullest extent. That means that you have to have annual checkups to ensure their health, all immunizations must be kept up to date, and they must have the proper diet. In addition, the animal must be protected by having a secure and safe place to live and a clean and dry place to sleep.

If you are willing to take on this commitment, then you can make application to adopt a pet.
