Straight from Prince's foster mom's mouth, he might just be the sweetest, best boy ever! Seven months ago, Prince suffered such cruelty and neglect that he was too weak to walk under his own power. Now, he's in a foster home where he is soaking up the love and affection like a big gray sponge! Prince has wonderful manners, is housebroken, gentle, happy and loving to people of all ages. He is very respectful to the other weims in the household, too. Prince is a very special boy and deserves only the most special of homes. If interested in adopting Prince, please submit an application at
www.weimrescue.com. We know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that this is definitely going to be Prince's best Christmas EVER!!!

Prince is SUCH a good boy he got his Christmas present a week early! This sweet boy went to a foster home yesterday and, so far, is doing great! This precious pup had such a hard life before coming to WRS; we're thrilled that he is waking up in a warm, comfortable home this morning. Prince is about 4 years old, loves to play ball, and does well with other dogs. WRS is so grateful to all of our foster families who open their hearts and homes to these wonderful weims! If interested in adopting Prince, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

From the brink of death to happy and healthy, Prince is looking for a foster or forever home to love him and spoil him rotten! Prince's original owner was arrested for animal cruelty and Prince made his way to WRS, where he has gained weight and been successfully treated for heartworms. Prince is a silly, happy boy who LOVES to play ball. Prince is about 3-4 years old and does well with other dogs. We do not know how he is with cats or young children. If interested in being the family that can show Prince what the good life is meant to be like, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Handsome and sweet Prince is another WRS pup who is looking for a foster or forever home! Like Oliver, our little guy who was adopted a couple of days ago, Prince was found starving and near death. His owner was arrested for animal abuse and Prince found his way to WRS. Prince has since been successfully treated for heartworms and is back at a healthy weight. His coat, which was in horrible condition, is growing back shiny and sleek. Prince is a smart boy who loves to fetch and learns very quickly. He needs someone who is patient and willing to give him the loving, structured life he so deserves! If interested in Prince, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

WHOO HOO! Both Prince and Zenzi have successfully completed heartworm treatment and are now available for foster or adoption. Prince is a 3-4 yo male whose original owner was arrested for animal cruelty when Prince was found emaciated with no food, water, or shelter. Prince is a very sweet boy who just wants to play. Prince does not appear to have had any training, but he's happy and eager to learn. Zenzi is a 5-6yo female who was an unclaimed stray from an Alabama shelter. Zenzi is more mellow, extremely sweet, affectionate, and just wants to snuggle with people. If interested in fostering or adopting either Prince or Zenzi, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Prince and Zenzi had their first of three heartworm treatments about 10 days ago and both pups are doing pretty well. Prince has lost some weight from the stress of treatment but we're making sure he gets some extra groceries to keep up his strength for the duration of his treatment, which will last for another 50 days. Zenzi continues to be incredibly sweet and happy and enjoyed spending time with our volunteer. Both dogs needs to remain as calm and stress-free as possible to minimize the risk of any complications throughout their treatment. It would have been much easier if their previous owners had given them heartworm preventative. Please protect your dogs from this otherwise fatal disease! And keep these two wonderful dogs in your thoughts and prayers!

Both Prince and Zenzi will be starting their heartworm treatment this coming week. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Both pups have spent the last month getting as healthy as possible in preparation for treatment. They've also enjoyed all the love and attention they have received. Both Zenzi and Prince came from bad situations but, despite all that they have been through, are incredibly sweet, happy, affectionate, playful dogs. Their treatment plan will take 60 days and, during that time, it is crucial that they stay as calm and relaxed and inactive as possible. That's not easy for a weim, but that's what has to be done. This all could have been avoided if their previous owners hadn't been so irresponsible and neglectful. EVERY responsible dog owner should have their pet on heartworm prevention; there is no reason to risk your dog's life!

This is Prince, WRS's newest rescue. Prince was part of a Louisiana animal cruelty case several weeks ago; his owner was arrested and charges were filed. While Prince has gained weight, he is still in poor health and he needs WRS to get him healthy again. Prince is heartworm positive and has some other medical concerns that need to be addressed. A staggering nearly 60% of WRS's 2016 intakes have been heartworm positive and WRS treats them all before they are adopted into their forever homes. If you have ever thought about making a donation to WRS, now would be a GREAT time as Prince will have significant medical bills. You can make a donation at www.weimrescue.com OR help us with much needed items from our Amazon Wish List, https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/…

Prince's life has undergone incredible changes in the last two months. Impounded by Animal Control when his owner was arrested for animal cruelty and then transferred to WRS for continued recovery and placement in a forever home, Prince is now ready for the next step in his journey, which is getting him medically healthy. He has been transferred to the vet clinic where he will have his heartworm treatment in the coming weeks. However, he did get to spend the night with one of our wonderful volunteers, who indulged this sweet boy with a nice bath, play time with the resident dogs, and have his pictures taken. You can from the photos that his coat is in terrible shape from lack of nutrition, care, and living exposed to the elements. However, look at Prince's sweet eyes and the happiness they exude; it's almost unbelievable that a dog who has experienced so much pain and suffering can still be so happy. Because Prince's body is still recovering, WRS is taking every possible precaution with his heartworm treatment and we do not expect him to be available for adoption for several months. Please click here if you'd like to donate to Prince's heartworm treatment (please make a note what your donation is for, thank you!) http://www.weimrescue.com/donations-wrs/
