***PENDING ADOPTION******

Poor Rocket came to WRS several months ago, after living in lonely isolation for most of his life. He was heartworm positive, had very poor socialization skills, and no training. Our fantastic vets got him healthy and our volunteers dedicated themselves to working with Rocket, with a great deal of success. We're thrilled to report that Rocket has now moved to a foster home, where he is doing very well, and is so happy! We look forward to sharing updates from Rocket's foster family as they get to know him!

We at WRS are VERY proud of these two boys - Rocket, the beautiful blue, and Bing, the handsome gray. Both of these boys came to WRS (separately), having suffered neglect and mistreatment in their previous lives and Bing and Rocket both had some significant socialization issues. Thanks to the tremendous dedication and efforts of some of our fantastic volunteers, both boys have made incredible strides. Rocket now gets along great with other well behaved dogs (he didn't like other dogs when he first came to us) and Bing now thoroughly enjoys being with people and is a sweet, affectionate boy (he came to us very aloof and distrusting). Bing and Rocket are both about 5 years old and would thrive in homes with previous breed experience and no small children or cats. They could be only dogs or live happily with another well behaved dog. If interested in fostering or adopting Bing or Rocket, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Handsome Rocket has come so far since he joined WRS a few months ago. First, he has been successfully treated for heartworms. Secondly, after living by himself in a small pen, Rocket has embraced human interaction and is a very affectionate, sweet boy with people. Finally, after being initially reactive to all dogs, Rocket is learning how to make friends with well behaved dogs. Rocket is 5 years old and a good looking blue boy. Rocket would do best in a structured adult home with breed ownership experience. Rocket can be an only dog or in a home with a calm, easy going pup. A fenced yard is required. Rocket is a very smart dog who is eager to learn and please people. If interested in fostering or adopting Rocket, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Handsome Rocket is looking for his foster or forever home! Rocket is 5 years old, recently completed heartworm treatment, and is a happy boy who loves to chase tennis balls and play with toys. Rocket would be happy as an only dog so that he doesn't have to share attention. If interested in fostering or adopting this beautiful blue boy, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Happy, handsome Rocket is looking for a foster or forever home! 5 years old, Rocket was rescued from a lonely life in a small pen where he had no exercise and very little human interaction. He also didn't receive veterinary care and came to WRS heartworm positive. He has been successfully treated and is now in excellent heath. Rocket is a big, strong, active boy who needs someone who will give him the structure and training that he did not receive in his previous home. Due to his rambunctiousness, we do not recommend Rocket for a home with young children. Rocket does well with female dogs but is not a fan of other male dogs. If interested in Rocket, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

After three long months, Rocket has successfully completed heartworm treatment!!! He is now off all exercise restrictions and is so excited to get to run around and play. Rocket is a handsome 5 year old blue male. He is a very active boy and will need a home willing to give him the time, training, and attention that his previous home didn't. Due to his size and rambunctiousness, we do not recommend a home with young children for Rocket. We do not know if Rocket is cat-friendly, but we do know that he is not octopus-friendly... smile emoticon:-) If interested in fostering or adopting Rocket, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Happy Monday from Handsome Rocket! Rocket is almost at the end of his heartworm treatment; he has just under two weeks to go! It's been a long 3 months but, other than losing several pounds, Rocket is doing very well. Like all weims, Rocket can't resist a good squeaky toy! Rocket is a very sweet boy who needs some training, but he's going to make someone a wonderful companion. Rocket is about 4-5 years old. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Rocket once he's completed heartworm treatment, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Handsome Rocket is a sweet, affectionate 4-5yo boy who has been with WRS for about 3 weeks. Unfortunately, in Rocket's previous life, he lived outside in a pen and his owners never had him on heartworm preventative. As a result, he has a heavy load of heartworms and will have to undergo treatment, which means Rocket be on strict confinement and will have little exercise for the next 2.5 months. Think about how stressful it would be for your weimaraner to have no exercise for nearly 3 months; that's what our rescues have to go through when they have irresponsible owners. Of course, heartworm disease is preventable! If you're not giving your dog heartworm preventative, your dog is at risk of getting a fatal disease. Speak to your vet today about getting your dog tested and started on prevention! And, if you're giving your dog heartworm prevention, THANK YOU!

The Weim Wagon volunteers are hitting the road very early morning today! This is Rocket, WRS's FOURTH intake of the week! He's a 5yo blue male. We'll post more about him once he's in our care and has been checked out by our vet. As always, we're so grateful for our volunteers who drive hundreds and hundreds of miles every year to get Weims in need into our care!
Sweet Rocket was a wonderfully well behaved boy on his transport this morning and was super sweet and affectionate with everyone he met. Unfortunately, for the second time this week, we're dealing with a handsome boy who has tested positive for a heavy load of heartworms. Like Flash, Rocket will have to undergo a lengthy treatment course (3 months) to safely kill off all the heartworms. Of course, this could have been easily been prevented if his previous owner had him on monthly preventative. We say this ALL THE TIME - if you are going to own a dog, you must have it on heartworm preventative! It's not expensive and it will protect your dog from getting a fatal disease. If you're not going to properly take care of your dog, then don't get one!
