Hunter was a stray in rural Kentucky and the very last dog at the shelter once Covid-19 shut down intakes to the shelter. We suspect Hunter was kept outside and spent most of his time with cats on his property. He is rapidly learning house manners and hasn't even attempted to counter surf.
Hunter is a sweet, affectionate, smart and friendly guy. He is great on a leash, house trained and crate trained. Hunter doesn’t chew things, and loves being with his humans. He would make a great service or emotional support dog with a little training. Hunter can be “mouthy” when excited which is why he should be in a home with children over 8. We are working on this but he will need his adoptive family to continue to be consistent to eliminate the behavior. He is a moderately energetic dog, and thinks he is smaller than he is resulting in all 50 lbs of him in your lap. He is pretty much perfect! We would like an experienced adopter for Hunter so that he can be the best he can be.

All dogs adopted are spayed/neutered, vaccinated including Rabies if over 14 weeks, microchipped, fecal tested, heart-worm tested if over 7 mo at arrival, flea/heartworm/tick preventative given monthly. Dogs are in foster homes in various locations but we are located in Columbia, TN. All dogs can be transported for free to adopters in the US and Canada.
