Shiva is a courtesy post for Valley Dogs Rescue.
If you are looking for a mellow dog that is able to chill in the house when not home, Shiva is your girl. This sweet 6 year old girl was picked up from the East Shelter and is very happy to be back in a home. She is a black and white, Siberian husky lab mix, but to be honest she is a true mutt. In reality she has a lot of other great breeds in her too. She still loves to play and gets really excited with new people at the house, but does settle down and is a lovable calm girl. She is highly social with all new people, although would look intimidating to strangers due to her size. She is about 80 pounds at least and solid:)
In her foster home she did want to chase the cat, so they had to be separated. A cat household or small dog is not the right home for her. We would prefer her to be the only dog in the household only because we haven't been able to see her interact with other large dogs yet in a foster home. We are open to a careful introduction to a family with another large dog if someone is interested. She is very playful and would probably thrive in a home with another dog if more submissive. I don't see her doing well with another alpha dog. Her pictures don't really show her size, but she is a big, tall, and thick girl:)
She is altered and current on shots. She is also dog door trained, knows how to “sit” and “shake” and responds when called. She is crate trained. She loves people and leans into you when petted. If you are looking for a great hiking dog Shiva’s your girl!
