My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey… I’m Brutus.
I’m eight years old, built like a bowling ball with legs, and I’ve been at the shelter for over a year now. I really thought this holiday season would be my time. I pictured myself snoozing on a couch, maybe stealing a blanket, maybe drooling on someone’s lap while we watched TV together.

But the holidays came and went, and I’m still here… still waiting… still chunky.

I’ll be honest with you: I love people. Like, LOVE people. If you want a dog who melts when you scratch his ears, who waddles over the second you sit down, who thinks you’re the greatest thing that has ever walked the earth… that’s me. I’ve got enough sweetness to fill a whole bakery.

But other animals?
Nope.
Not my thing.
I want to be the king of my castle — the only pet in the home. I’m not sharing my snacks, my naps, or my humans.

I know that limits my options, but come on… I also know there are tons of lazy, cozy-loving humans out there who just want a couch buddy. And let me tell you, I was born for that job. I am professionally trained in lounging. I excel in snoring. I take my cuddles extremely seriously.

I don’t want to spend another year here. I don’t want my story to be, “Brutus is still waiting.” I’m older, sure, but that just means I’ve perfected the art of being the perfect chill companion.

So if you’ve got a couch…
and no other pets…
and a heart that could use a big, chunky shadow who follows you around…

Please come meet me.

Let’s make sure I never, ever have to watch another holiday go by from inside my kennel.

Brutus is neutered, dewormed, microchipped and is up to date with vaccines. His adoption fee is $500.00, plus $8.50 for the dog license if you are a resident of NYC. Brutus will also get one free exam with one of our participating veterinarians within 30 days of his adoption.
