My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

During the state mandated shelter-in-place order BACS has transitioned to virtual, socially-distanced adoptions.
If you have an interest in a particular BACS animal, please email KSwanson@cityofberkeley.info. The first step will be to set up a virtual meeting with their current foster family via phone, zoom, or facetime, to provide you with more detailed information about the animal. Following that, if you feel like it could be a good adoption fit, shelter staff will help coordinate a socially-distanced meeting in person so that you can meet your potential family member up-close and personal. Thank you for your patience during this time. We really appreciate your support!

Orla is a bundle of love. She loves everybody--people, dogs, even cats. She hasn't spent a ton of time around children while in our care, but the few instances where she did interact with them, she seemed mostly uninterested in them. She loves to snuggle and be the center of attention. At the dog park, she is delightfully social. Sometimes her play with other dogs can become rough, but when dogs correct her, she listens and backs off. She's a great off-leash hiking dog. Orla would love to live in a house with a yard. She loves to find a nice sunny spot and snooze. Her hobbies are snoozing, destroying stuffed animals, playing tug, playing with other doggies, snuggling, getting rubs, and eating bones. She doesn't need to be the only pet. We've worked with her on leash training, obedience, and separation anxiety. She has made plenty of progress in all areas, but she is charmingly stubborn and still has room to improve. Orla needs a family or person who can give her stable and predictable routines, Orla settles in quite comfortably.
