My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***Updated Bio***

Oh Jeffrey, or Jeff as his friends call him. Goofy, sweet , silly , charming (when he wants to be) and of course handsome. Just Around 1 years old Jeff is basically an overgrown puppy with no manners.

As sweet and handsome as this goofy boy is, Jeff sometimes struggles with meeting new people. More specifically he struggles meeting them on leash. He also has a harder time meeting some men vs. women. Though “leash reactive” as we call it, we have been working with Jeff to help him safely interact with new friends while on leash. We have also been working on some Muzzle training with Jeff. It’s safe for every dog to be comfortable in a muzzle to protect them, as well as others. Though he has shown improvement in many areas he still has much to work on. Any adopter should be prepared to work on training with Jeff.

Because of his weird quirks we do not feel Jeff would do well in a home with kids under the age of 16. We do feel Jeff would do best in a home that can provide him structure and routine that can help him succeed to be the best dog we know he can be.

Thought he has quirks Jeff has many great things about him. Once Jeff is comfortable with you he has no problem giving you a few sloppy kisses. He likes to give hugs too, but we are teaching Jeff that he doesn’t get attention when jumping up on people. Right now we ask him to sit and then he gets his beloved head and butt scratches. He sometimes thinks he’s part cat when he tries to rub all over you for more.

Jeff also does really well with other dogs who match his goofy play style. He really wouldn’t mind a confident brother or sister that could show him the ropes. But he would do well without one also as long as his new family understands he will need exercise and structure in his daily routine.

Oh and car rides, Jeff loves them. Especially if they end in a hike where he can explore all the smells and sounds around him. Also, though he may protest sometimes, Jeff does very well in a crate here at the rescue, and goes right in for staff when asked.

If you think Jeff would be a good addition to your family, please fill an application out at dogtownrescue.org Jeff is up to date on vaccinations, neutered and microchipped.
