My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sylvia is approximately 5 years old. She is a spayed female who
enjoys life, even though it didn't begin very well for her. She was
found tied up outside her family's home, abandoned. Neighbors
fed and watered her until animal control came and picked her up.
Her city rescuers fell absolutely in love with her. She is reactive to
most dogs (probably as a result of having to defend herself while
tied up outside her family's home). She gets along with some dogs,
but we never know which dog she will find acceptable . She was
close to being put down by the city when she was finally adopted.
The problem is that the adopter had other dogs. She got along
pretty well with one, but fought with another. This adopter found
another person to take her, but the city he lived in passed a pit
bull ban. Sylvia's now foster parents rushed to pick her up before
she could be put down by the city. The problem – they have 3 dogs
and 2 cats of their own. Their pets are on a rotation schedule. Not
really fair to anyone.

So who is Sylvia and why does everyone love her? She is the
sweetest dog who loves ALL humans, especially men. She loves to
play with her ball and have a good game of tug. She loves her
walks every morning (she walks GREAT and, for the most part, has

no issues with walking when other dogs are out walking - as long
as they are well behaved on a short leash). Her foster parents love
her and would absolutely keep her, but she needs to be an only
pet. Her perfect home is out there waiting for her.

Sylvia has NO resource guarding issues. She really is a dream to
have around. She has lived well with an 8 year old girl, but she
may bulldoze every so often. She LOVES to rough-house, but will
easily stop if you ask her to stop (and if she accidentally hurts you,
she will kiss your ouch).

Sylvia can NOT eat grain-free kibble. She does not keep weight on
at all and her skin suffers with yeast overgrowth on grain-free
kibble. Right now Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach
(both flavors) works really well for her. She put on the proper
amount of weight and her skin is clear of yeast. Nice, soft coat as
well.

Sylvia doesn't like loud noises (yelling and fireworks). Her foster
parents did get her to calm down nicely on the 4th of July though.
She is curious about cats, but if they swat at her, she will defend
herself, so no cats.

Sylvia has no separation anxiety, and, best of all, she loves to
cuddle with you on the sofa at the end of the day.
