MARCH DOG DAY OUT - Penn had a nice DDO today. I heard that he is not a fan of car rides, so we walked from the shelter to Douglas Park. It was a really nice walk and the weather felt great. We walked the entire park and he really enjoyed rolling on the grass and exploring the park and different smells. He really liked going up and down the stairs each time he saw stairs. He ignored other dogs when we saw people walking their dogs; and squirrels and geese didn't make an impression on him. We saw and heard sirens and ambulances and the noise didn't bother him. On our way back we walked down on Cermark street and we did some window shopping. Penn did Great on leash, he barely pulls and did really good on waiting to cross the streets as well. He responds to treats and correction and it would be great if someone could work and give him additional training. He is still at the shelter and available for adoption.

JANUARY - OMG Penn is ador-a-bull! He is the definition of a little meatball, short legs and thick bodacious bod. I love this happy guy. He is so friendly in kennel and just as easy to leash and return. Penn is another one where I am shocked he is here. He looks like he was really well-cared for: social happy guy, gleaming coat, well-fed, seems like a holder/potty trained and knows sit. Not surprising, this social guy seems to have no qualms with saying hello to everyone and no problems handling. The first time we met, he was def stressed, confused, searching for his family but he seems to have relaxed a bit in the week. Outside he pulls occasionally on leash sometimes to get near other dogs (but is pretty easily managed since he is small) but we haven't tested him yet. Here is hoping he wants to be best friends with both hoomans and puppers alike!
