Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Leilah is about a year and a half old, but she looks older and more distinguished with her beautiful eye patch and sophisticated markings. She wound up at the shelter as an owner surrender but has not missed a step moving into her foster home and contributing equal parts energy and love to the household. When she got to her foster home, she was so timid that her foster family thought she was just afraid of the stairs and would get more comfortable as she had time to decompress. Imagine our surprise when the vet told us she is mostly blind!
We definitely didn’t anticipate that from this young beauty! Her foster family is doing what they can to accommodate her now that they know that the timidity stems from her sight limitations more than anything else. They are working on incorporating a schedule to her day which, believe it or not, includes running with her foster mom! We are sure that we will learn more ways to help her feel comfortable and that her disability won’t keep her from living the amazing life she deserves but she needs a patient family that is willing to put in the extra work with her so she can gain confidence in a scary world she can’t see.
She hasn’t met any cats or children, but we can test her if you’re interested. She is a loving girl who, despite her blindness, can now rock those stairs in her foster home and annoy her canine foster brother just like a sighted dog!
She has some more vetting to complete, but if you are interested in adopting her, please fill out a survey today at www.playersforpits.com/adoptionsurvey!
