My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cora is a lovely white with fawn 5 and 1/2 year old who just arrived from a greyhound farm.

Cora had 145 races in Florida before retiring to a farm, where she had a litter of puppies. With all that behind her now, she just dreams of a loving, forever home.

Cora appears to be not tolerant of small dogs or cats.

FOSTER UPDATE:

Cora is a very sweet and spunky hound. She is curious about everything, learns quickly, enjoys occasionally playing with toys, and is highly motivated by treats and loves. She enjoys walks and rides in the car, as well as sleeping all afternoon and evening on the floor or rug but refuses to use the bed! Cora seems to have a high prey drive and will sometimes slowly raise her tail and front leg into a "pointing" position while holding very still and then trying to go after whatever it was she saw (birds, bunnies, etc.).

She doesn't seem to like other dogs much so far, but will tolerate bigger ones if they are calm and don't get in her face. With the smaller ones, though, she gets ready to pounce as described above, even if they are not bothering her. She has spent a lot of time growling and/or barking at her reflection and at a statue of a panther in our yard but that has subsided quite a bit after 3 weeks.

She also seems shy about meeting new people when she is out with us. Cora eats and drinks well and her wariness of us being close to her while eating has improved. Her 'happy dance' at dinnertime is something to see!
