Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Zoey!
This beautiful girl has been down on her luck for quite some time now.
She needs a stable, patient, compassionate person with leadership skills and the ability to work with her on leash manners. So many things have gone wrong for her.... she had a very happy life from puppyhood until a year or so ago. (She is 4.5 years old.) Her parents got divorced and she was a little bit neglected. She was back and forth with the two people and eventually we were asked to rehome her because the woman was not allowed to have her where she lived, and the man's new girlfriend apparently was "allergic" to dogs. Zoey then tore her ACL and had to have surgery. A very kind hearted woman adopted Zoey and cared her through her post surgery recovery. But due to several difficult circumstances it has been decided that this home is not the right fit for Zoey. It's absolutely heartbreaking when dog's lives have so many changes and they lose their homes and their people. Zoey will be losing a dog friend too. This sweet affectionate and playful girl needs a seriously committed person or family to step up and give her the life that she deserves. She will in return give her people unconditional love and loyalty. Zoey is strong and pulls on a leash. This will need to be addressed or the proper harness utilized, but let's be serious... she is an intelligent dog... how hard could it be to work with her?
She does not do well with small dogs. Older children who are respectful with dogs would be fine. So just to reiterate the amount of trauma she has dealt with.. she was given up by her family, lost the only home she had ever known, had major surgery and lived with another person for 2 1/2 months and now will be losing that person, dog friend and home. Please consider making her part of your family and opening up your heart to here. She is a very good dog and needs some understanding. Adoption donation and home visit required.
