Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This salt and pepper fellow will follow you around and just wants to be near you. He is wonderfully laid back and if you are having a bad day, his greeting will always make you smile. He gets very excited when the leash comes out and can trot on his walks. He loves, loves the walks. He likes pets and will seek them out, but is not relentless like some dogs can be. His house manners are excellent and he has never had an accident or destroyed anything. Occasionally Murphy will grab a bottle out of recycling just to carry around, but we think this makes him adorable and not a nuisance. He will make sure the squirrels and the crows do not hang out in your yard. He is such a great companion that we can't believe he has not been adopted while everyone is staying at home. His puppy dog eyes will melt you!
Murphy has tried all the dog beds in the house and has decided on a favorite. He is house trained and good with other dogs although he can be obsessed with a kitty in the house. He will sound off when he is nervous but the foster family does not hear it much anymore. Overall, Murphy relaxed quickly and he never gave up a meal because of nerves. In fact, he’s learned where the food is stored and always shows up when that door is opened. We predict it is going to be hard to control yourself and not give him too many treats…especially when he shows you his big puppy dog eyes.
Murphy found himself in the shelter in the beginning of February after some good Samaritans saw him running on the 10 freeway and were able to catch him! While there, this boy was treated for ear infections in both ears and a stiff gait. We sprang him on the day the city shelters closed their doors because of COVID-19. We got him out in the nick of time! We took him straight to the vet where he received a clean bill of health and a much-needed bath. Now his coat is black instead of brown.
Initially we thought Murphy was graying on his face but with closer inspection his coat is very salt and pepper while his muzzle and feet are true salt n’ pepper. Murphy has a soft coat that is thick and silky. Although he is not very tall, he still weighs 54 lbs which clearly adds to his distinguished charm. We estimate him to be between 8 – 10 years old.
