My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Odie was found living on the streets in a neighborhood where loose dogs unfortunately go largely unnoticed. But when a good samaritan realized he was never going to a home and sleeping on the side of a road, she called us to trap him. He would sit quietly on the side of a busy road as people passed him by, until they looked his way. As soon as someone seemed to notice him, he would take off in fear.

Our team set a trap for him and within a couple of days, some hot rotisserie chicken coaxed him into the trap and he was suddenly off the streets.

It only took a few days and some serious loving before it was clear that someone had loved him in his life before. Odie was already house-trained, loved snuggles and kids, and could charm the pants off of anyone. But his family has not been found.

After a few months in his foster home. the unthinkable happened. While his foster mom was away, something sparked a fight among his foster brothers. While all of the dogs were injured, Odie took the brunt of it. He nearly didn't make it. It has taken thousands of dollars, 4 surgeries, and 2 long months for Odie to recover and once again become the silly, happy guy we know. Through all of the ordeal, Odie has maintained his usual sunny attitude and never felt sorry for himself. One of his ears has moved high on his head and he got a bit of an unneeded face lift. He is now back to taking walks and living his best life and is once again looking for a new spot to call forever.

From Odie's foster mom:
It is said that when you adopt a dog, they’re a part of your world, but to them, you’re their whole world. This dog, Odie, is so beautiful, so wonderful, so special, that he will be someone’s whole heart. It is his fate. And he deserves it. He has been an absolute joy to foster. Zero accidents, zero destruction. He’s a complete looney who can self entertain. He hugs like it’s the last hug you’ll ever have or need. When first leashed, he’ll send you flying down a set of stairs at Mach 3. You’ll want to work on that one. He’s eager to learn and please. He’ll follow you wherever you go, forever. He’s 45-47lb and is two-ish yrs old. World’s softest fur; low shedder. He gets along well with other dogs, but does appreciate animals who give him personal space. Is fun at the dog park. Want a sensitive, sweet, party animal— one who has the potential for service work or being a young child’s soulmate — want someone this amazing in your life? He’s looking for you, too!
