Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Miss Luna is a confident, outgoing, and social young lady who likes all humans she meets, and especially loves kids. That said, she is learning manners so she doesn’t overwhelm the littles, because this five and ½ month old girl already weighs in at nearly 50 pounds. She is awesome about not jumping on adults but still can push a small child around with her wiggles alone.
Luna has requested a canine playmate, as wrestling and chasing are her top two favorite games. Tug is great fun and after serious exercising with her foster brother, she falls to the ground for a nap to replenish the energy supplies. As with any puppy, getting enough exercise is the key to having a lovely and non-destructive dog in the home.
Luna crates at night, though she is well housebroken, just because she is a puppy and hasn’t earned the privileges of an adult dog yet. She races into her crate (“go to your box”) every evening for her cookie and sleeps well to the morning wake up. She is crated when I leave home for several hours but hasn’t been destructive in the home. But, as I said, she gets loads of exercise here and a tired puppy is a good puppy.
Puppy class was a great success for this playful and social little girl but should only be the start of her education. Luna is a quick learner and loves doing her downs, sits, and waits but continuing education in a must. She would quickly take over the management and running of your household (and probably put you on an allowance) if she thought she could so it is important she finds humans who are able to set firm, reasonable boundaries and can enforce, gently and calmly, rules and regulations for a peaceful home life. She is quite willing to follow the plan if it is consistently and pleasantly enforced. She would love to show off for you as she sits and waits patiently for her release to eat as her (and her brother’s) dinner is set down on the floor.
Spayed and UTD on vaccines, housebroken, good start on obedience, loves everyone…pretty great package. Add in that she is pretty adorable to boot ! She will probably be a big girl, maybe 65-80 pounds? Really not sure but Plan on Big. She has a fat, smooshy face that might indicate some boxer type dog but mostly she is cattle dog type coat and fur, some other mystery dog for size and (little tank-like) shape. She sashays as she walks, unlike any other foster I have had. Perhaps preparing for a career on the runway? Cats are unknown but she appears to love all and is great with tiny dogs, so I imagine with a careful, slow, and well managed introduction to cats, all would be fine.
You will have to demonstrate to her foster mom- that’d be me, that you have a plan in place for raising, exercising, and training a puppy. If you are working 11 hour days, you probably don’t unless you use daycare or take your dog to work. Puppies take an incredible amount of commitment, time, and energy. Yes, I know I sound picky but I want this special girl to have a FOREVER home, not just- for-a-while home.
