My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Memphis came to us from a neglect/starvation situation. He was 45 pounds underweight when he came to TDR in January 2009. He is the biggest companion dog that you could ask for. He is respectful in your home, will not get on furniture unless you tell him to do so, knows the "kennel" command, will tell you when he needs to go outside, and is a great all around dog. He is currently registered with the United Kennel Club so that his new home can compete in Junior Showmanship, Performance and Working events. He is eligible for registration with the American Kennel Club in order to participate in the same types of competitions with that registry.

He actually loves cats, but too much as he chases them. Thus, he cannot be in a home with cats. He gets along well with the Parson Russell Terrier females in the home where he is at. However, he is not great around some male dogs due to being intact at this time. We are waiting to have him neutered until he is adopted so that he has as much treatment for heartworms prior to being anesthetized for the surgery. Even with being intact, he does not mark inside a house.

He is currently living at a dog trainer's home where he has received obedience training and even work on some tricks. He walks great on a leash and loves carrying pack bags.

He has been great with people of all ages even in new strange environments like on his walks which sometimes involve stopping at Sonic and other places to grab a bite to eat outside. He lays down next to the table and waits for you to drop something. He is not a "garbage raider" or a "counter surfer". Even during the Super Bowl party this year with 20 people in the home and three full tables of food, he kept his nose off of the tables and out of their plates.

He would be suitable for just about any type of owner including first time Doberman owners. He is in our Special Needs category due to his ongoing treatment for heartworms which he should be clear for in the next six months or so. We will provide the medication and the administration to the person who adopts him. His adoption fee is $150 due to being in the Special Needs program.

Please feel free to contact us for more information on Memphis. TN Doberman Rescue offers Dog Facts' Sheets for all dogs available for adoption which include their complete information. Please see his page for his detailed information and completed Dog Facts' Sheet.
