My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mickey is a 12-year-old salt-and-pepper schnauzer that grew up in California. He is slowly adjusting to the Maryland weather. Lucky for him we have only had trace amounts of snow this year, but he was not even appreciative of the light dusting we experienced shortly after his arrival. Mickey has a sweet disposition. He loves to be petted along his back and scratched behind his ears. He has a healthy appetite and has regained the weight loss he experienced when he was surrendered to the animal shelter. He is now a healthy 17.8 pounds, the exact weight he was when he was surrendered. Mickey likes to spend time with his people and follows his foster mom and dad around. Initially, he would bark unhappily when his foster parents were not in the room with him, but he has come to the realization that barking is not necessary because he can count on them to always come back from their errands. Mickey loves to take walks but as a senior his pace is slow and he really enjoys stopping to smell any and all things that interest him. And there’s not very much that doesn’t interest him.

Dogs will only be adopted to residents of the following: Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and DC.

Adopters must agree to take the dog through obedience training within 3 months of adoption (unless the dog is over age 10).

Adopters must agree to keep the dog current on vaccinations and heart worm, flea, tick prevention on a year round basis.
