Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This handsome hunk of houndy boy is King! King is about 5-6 months old and a big boy, weighing in around 40 lbs already. We are calling King and his siblings the “country mutt specials”; judging by their barks, their features, and their goofy, sweet natures we are calling them hound mixes. They would be fun to do a dna test on! Whatever King may be, we know for sure he is a great pup who’s had a rough start to life!
King and his siblings came from a very rural area, with a very horrible “owner”. This “owner” left them outside to fend for themselves, and when he decided to feed them is was the carcasses of the animals he’d trapped and skinned for their fur. We use the word “owner” very loosely with horrible people like this. Sadly it gets worse, he started to get sick of all the dogs running around his property and began shooting them with a pellet gun! Thankfully King was a lucky one and was not shot; however, he came to us very thin and with pretty much every parasite a dog can get. How he wasn’t showing signs of illness was a miracle! We are also thankful for the kind man who realized what this “owner” was doing to his dogs and convinced him to give them to rescue! That is where Saving GRACE and another rescue stepped in to help!
King’s upbringing is just a chapter of his past we were happy to help him close! He is a darling goober considering all he’s been through and all the changes he’s met over the last couple weeks. It is an interesting thing to watch a dog experience so many “firsts”. First car rides, first time being inside, wearing a collar, sleeping on a cozy bed, playing with toys, being fed regular, healthy meals… the list of “firsts” is a big one for King, and we think it is safe to say he has really taken a liking to his new lifestyle!
As mentioned above we do believe King will be quite a good sized pup. He absolutely loves to play with whoever will have him, but he definitely does not know his size; a home with tiny kids might not be the best for him to go too. Also King would do best in a home with a nice yard and an active family, this dude would not make a good apartment dog! King is just a giant sweetheart of a puppy, who is soaking in this new life and learning the ways and manners of a house dog. He is highly food motivated and will be easily trained by a family who puts in the time. King’s got the makings of an amazing doggo!
King is a foster dog though Saving GRACE, his adoption fee is $200. King has been neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, dewormed (several times), and much more. All King needs now is a family to call his own, a family who is ready to open their home and hearts to this sweet, floopy puppy!
