My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I’m Kasey, a 6 year old female JRT- Rat Terrier mix, weighing 19 lbs. Before coming to rescue, I lived life on a chain. As a result, I’m very fearful when you meet me but I when I warm up to you, I’m as loving as can be. Because I can be a bit fearful, I need a home with no children but patient and dog savvy teenagers would be ok.

Speaking of dogs, I really love them and as a result, I need a home with another playful dog who will help me learn to trust the humans I am with. I’m much happier with another dog around to show me the ropes. I have a doggy playgroup that comes over to my foster family’s every day and I can’t stop smiling when they are here! I recently had a trainer come meet me and she says I need another dog in my home because I like to take my cues from other dogs. Please don’t apply for me unless you have another dog.

I am currently fostered in a suburban home with 3 other dogs of different sizes and a fenced in yard. I’d like to continue to have a fenced in yard.

In my foster home, I am friendly, affectionate and very playful. I love to play with toys and steal the frisbee from my furry foster brother. I love to cuddle with my foster family and get tummy rubs. I prefer to meet new people while on a leash and I really don’t want them to touch me until I say it’s ok- but aren’t most of us like that?

I am housetrained and not destructive when left alone, but I do have a bit of separation anxiety so I don’t want to be left all day. I do shed so I would not be a good fit for anyone with allergies.

I would need a patient dog owner who is willing to work with me on meeting new people.
The optimal situation for me is a home with another dog, no young kids and where I am not left alone for more than a couple of hours at a time. I’m quite food motivated and bright so I think I would do great if you wanted to work towards agility training.
