My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Edwin –Edwin is about three years old and weighs in at 35lbs. This sweet and shy blue heeler mix loves to give hugs! He is heartworm NEGATIVE! Edwin was living with a family before they decided they didn’t want him anymore. Maybe you can foster Edwin while we search for his forever family?!

This dog is also available for our Foster to Adopt program. This program allows you to be the family that greets them when they arrive in Illinois. Foster to Adopt families have the first option to adopt if you determine this is the pup right for you!

While you foster, we pay all expenses from vetting, to food and we provide a crate, leash, collars, and toys. Your family provides love (something they desperately needs!) and a safe place to lay their head until they find a forever home.

We also require that you have the ability to take the pup to routine veterinary visits at our participating vets. These vets are located in Wheaton, Naperville, Geneva, South Elgin, and Elmhurst. Spay/Neuters are done in Geneva, South Elgin, and North Aurora. We also request that you bring the dog to our adoption events twice a month. These events are typically on Saturday from 10-1

Fostering is the most life giving thing you can do for a dog or puppy! It is a very rewarding experience that will make a huge impact on their life. By becoming a foster you are saving 2 lives - the animal you bring into your home while he or she waits to be adopted, and the animal who gets to take your foster’s place in the shelter.

Please email safehavendogsIL@yahoo.com for a foster application or additional details.

Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.
