Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Daisy is adopted!!!
Daisy is a very special girl who just happens to be blind but blindness doesn't hold her back! Daisy learns very quickly and is able to navigate easily in new surroundings. Daisy is confident and loves to explore despite her loss of vision. She especially loves to follow her nose outdoors in any weather condition.Daisy quickly learned where the "potty" door is and she will go to the door if she needs to go out. With a routine schedule, Daisy is able to "hold it" and wait until someone is home to let her outside.
Daisy has the softest coat of a dachshund that we've ever felt. She feels like velvet and she loves to be petted. Daisy is very affectionate and is so excited when you return from work and when everyone wakes up in the morning. Daisy will even play and cuddle with other dogs, but she is protective of her food. She isn't afraid to tell another dog to back-off if they get too close to her food or treats.
Daisy is such an inspiring character. She's proof of the amazing adaptability that animals have. Daisy is only 4-years-old but she lost her vision suddenly in July due to Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome (SARDS). SARDS is unfortunately, common in dachshunds and the cause in unknown. Although the vision loss is irreversible, dogs with SARDS have quality of life and happiness just like any other dog. Animals are resilient. Also, there are no known side effects to SARDS other than the blindness.
Please let us know if you have any questions about Daisy. She is a great dog! Her adoption fee is $250 so if you are interested, please read our adoption information page and fill out an application. You can reach us at chrissaandtravis@hotmail.com. Thank you!
