My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maggie is a 5-year old Brittany spaniel mix with a lot of energy and love to share. She is orange and white and is the softest dog you will ever pet! She is a great companion and will follow you throughout the house. In the evenings, she is content to lie by your feet and keep them warm. She enjoys playing inside with her 3 “human” sisters. But there is nothing like being outside playing fetch, going on walks and taking a dip in a nearby creek. She and her Mom love to hit the trails for a long run.

Maggie has had two 5-week training sessions and several one on one training sessions in her home. She walks well on a leash and knows the basic commands (come, sit, stay, drop it). She does not like being in her crate but does well unconfined in the house. She is an alpha dog but interacts well with non-alpha dogs of similar size. She lives with another Brittany and gets along wonderfully with him. Although, there is a cat in her current home, she does not seem to prefer cats or small dogs.

They have a very active household with lots of other children coming and going into their house and yard. Recently, Maggie had become very protective of her yard and has started jumping up and chasing the neighborhood children when they come into the yard. It has gotten to point where these children are apprehensive about coming into the yard. As a result, she must be keep inside the house when other children are in the yard. The current owners brought a trainer in to work with her on this behavior but have not seen enough changes to be confident that she can be around other children. After giving much thought to this situation, the owners have decided that the best option would be to place Maggie in a different home environment.

We believe Maggie would do well with an active couple or single person who would not have a lot of children coming and going into the house or yard. A home with another non-alpha dog would be fine but she would do better without a cat. Maggie would like a fenced in yard.
