Because of his history of neglect we would not adopt him to a home with children as we want him to be in a quiet peaceful home where he is the center of attention without fast movements and fear of being hugged or loved too hard.
The perfect home would be with someone who loves to walk as he loves it too and is also very playful with a ball and toys, he would be perfect for a recently retired and active person/couple, or someone who works very part time.
He hates to get groomed…… can you blame him, so only someone who will use a professional experienced groomer is a must, over time this will subside and he will learn that getting groomed is not the horrendous experience that hurts, he has had to endure due to being matted to his skin.
This little boy looks at you right in the eyes to see if you are trust worthy, when you get a dog that makes eye contact like that they are extremely trainable and could be taught to do anything, plus he is very, very smart and wants to please you. He will do anything for a treat, which he thinks is the best thing ever.
He is a snuggle bug as well and loves to sit on and next to you, he is also a leaner and will lean on you just to have human contact. We have allowed him to sleep on the big bed with us as we felt he needed nurturing and human contact, which he just loves, so that would also be a requirement to adopt him as he will bond totally with his owner and wants to be close to them, although he is crate trained also.
We think this little guy is very special, don’t judge him on his hair or lack of it as that will grow back in a few weeks. He needs someone who understands his beginning in life was not the best, but wants to give him a wonderful life from here on in.
Poodles need to go to a professional groomer every 6-8 weeks at a cost of about $50, so please factor that into the costs associated with dog ownership.
