CHESTNUT was rescued from a local shelter when he was very small. He came in all by himself and one of the shelter volunteers took him home until he was big enough to come to rescue. CHESTNUT is a bit unique looking and will require a special home that will be willing to overlook his differences. His eyes are a bit smaller than a normal cat, partly due to genetics and partly due being sick as a kitten. His pupils are a bit dark and there are cloudy spots in his eyes. Our vet says that he does have some vision, but it is unknown exactly how much. We know that he can at least see some lights and shadows. He is listed as special needs, but does not truly require any special care at this point.
His foster mom feels that he would do best in a quieter home without a lot of chaos. He does need to go to a home with another kitty buddy to help him adjust to his surroundings (or be adopted with another cat). He has been exposed to his foster's large, calm, older dog and has done fine. However, it is not recommended that he go to a home with a rambunctious dog or young kids.
CHESTNUT is a very sweet kitty. He does get a little spooked with loud noises and sudden movement towards him (due to his limited vision). He will, however, let you hold him as long as you want loves attention.
CHESTNUT is a very special, super sweet boy and really requires a special home that will accept him for being a bit different. Please consider giving him the home he deserves.
Anyone interested in our cats will be required to fill out an adoption application. To fill out an application on line, just go to www.furryfriendsanimalrescue.org and click on the Adoption Application link. All our cats will be spayed or neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations. We do ask for a $140 adoption donation.
Foster Homes are needed in order to help more animals like this one. Please consider opening your heart and home to a homeless animal. Check out our website on how to become a Foster Parent!
