My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Wonderful Willy

There is just something special about being loved by a special needs cat. If you have patience and a lot of love to give, Willy is the cat for you. Willy is about a year old. His mother was feral. Willy is beautiful with big blue eyes and gorgeous, soft fur. Willy has a hard time trusting people. He spent the first two months in his foster home hiding. With the help of the Feliway infuser, he calmed down and decided to give his foster mother a chance.

Now, Willy exhibits typical ragdoll behavior with his foster mother. He loves head pets and belly rubs. He purrs loudly. At the moment, he is nocturnal. Just recently, he has gained the courage to venture outside of the room. He spent his first night out exploring the house and sleeping on his foster mother's bed. Willy requires a special kind of adopter. At the moment he is still skiddish and only responds to one person. He is less afraid of dogs and other cats. His adopter will have to be patient with him and invest time in making Willy feel comfortable and secure. The ideal adopter will be an experienced cat owner with a fairly quiet home. No children or big dogs. At first, he will need a special place where he can hide during the day until he feels secure.

Willy’s foster home is in Austin, Texas. When we find the special adopter he needs, the fee will be waived. If you think that person might be you, email us at merlinshoperagdollrescue@gmail.com

Sorry, we do not ship our cats or provide any transportation. All potential adopters should reside in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, or Louisiana. We will not adopt outside of those states.

Who We Are: We are a private rescue and privately funded. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER, BUT A RESCUE. A rescue is a PRIVATE HOME and not a public place to visit. Adopters must make appointments prior to visiting foster homes. All of our cats are spayed/neutered, FIV/FELV tested, wormed, de-fleaed, and vaccinated prior to adoption.

Adoption Process: We require all potential adopters to fill out an adoption application prior to setting up an appointment to visit with the cat(s). We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. If you call or email us, we will provide you with an application via email.

YOUNG CAT COMPANION POLICY: Unless otherwise indicated, all cats under the age of 3 must go into a home with another cat/kitten under the age of three or be adopted with a buddy. Ragdolls and Maine Coons are physically slow to mature, benefit greatly from the social interactions with another cat and often long for the companionship. Obviously, some young adults not raised around other cats or with more independent personalities may be exceptions to those rules, but that is up to the discretion of the Rescue to assess that need and is not negotiable. Special prices are made for buddy adoptions.
