Here's what the humans have to say about me:
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO READ THE DESCRIPTION ON SMOOSHIE BEFORE APPLYING. ONCE YOU READ THE DESCRIPTION, IF YOU ARE STILL INTERESTED, THE NEXT STEP IS FILLING OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE. www.furkidrescue.org
Smooshie was rescued in Memphis, when she was found tied to a dog house, with a anal prolapse. Her owner surrendered her, and she was rushed to the emergency vet, where she had a "purse string" surgery, which put her poor little bum back inside of her. she was full of parasites, which most likely caused the anal prolapse.
Once we got her parasites under control, her anal area should have went back to normal. It didn't. The last 2 months, she has struggled to poo, and she poos a lot. After several vet re-checks, it was determined that she needs a colonpexy, and that is where the vet will stitch her colon to her colon lining. This surgery is in March. This surgery will be covered by FurKid.
There is no guarantee that this surgery will fix her, but we surely hope so. Her anal area may be stretched, and just not go back to normal, and that means, we aren't too sure what is in store for her.
We can tell you this- she is not house trained, so you will have to clean up pee and poop daily. The poop, she cannot help. So, while her looks make her "highly adoptable" keep in mind that she is high maintenance when it comes to up keep, at this point. And depending on how the second surgery turns out, she may always be high maintenance.
As for personality, she is awesome. She is laid back, cuddly, and lives with 3 other dogs. she rides in the car well, she does well at public events and she is well behaved when at the vet. Everyone loves her!
