Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Australian Shepherd Furever foster, Barrett, is looking for his Furever home. He is very loyal, sweet, shy, and humble. He weighs 38 lbs, neutered, estimated to be about 3.5 years old and is current on all of his shots and heart worm preventative.
He gets along well with his current dog siblings, which are low key, and the house cat. Barrett has been with his foster family for several months and is finally ready to transition into an adoptive home where he can continue to adjust to a normal, loving, home.
He will do best in a calm home with patient owners that will be able to spend one on one time with him, are home a lot, or are able to take him along. He will need to take things slow, but he has come a very long way in his journey to trusting people.
Barrett walks well on a leash, likes to stick close to his person, loves to take walks and hikes, and is learning to enjoy lap sitting! Barrett took a three week vacation with his foster family and traveled well in the car (8 hour drive), went potty on command at rest areas and was a perfect gentleman in hotel stays and friends' homes. Barrett will still need to work on confidence building and sometimes has a bit of excitement peeing when happy to see his people. He has lessened this behavior during his foster months, and we think, and are hoping, that he may be able to curb the behavior over time once he gets settled into a new home.
Barrett will be a wonderful. loyal and bonding companion for the right person(s). If you are interested in adopting Barrett, please fill out an application. He is being fostered in SC near Charlotte, NC.
