Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sarge’s family made the difficult decision to surrender him to our rescue. They had him since he was a puppy and he is now about 1.5 yrs old. He lived with another male chow about the same age and they were buddies. The family kept the other one. The reason Sarge was not working out is because like most chows he is stubborn and wants to do what he wants and when he wants. Sarge needs a chow savvy family or person who will provide the necessary guidance and leadership that he needs and is looking for. Sarge becomes nervous when outside of his comfort zone and was not socialized as well as he should have been when he was young. He is absolutely terrified at the vets and had minimal experiences previously and none were good.
Sarge is a very friendly, sweet and loving boy but needs to be in the right environment with people that have the time to commit to his development. Sarge is great in the car and loves to go for walks.
His foster family will be evaluating him in the coming days and weeks to provide feedback so that we have a better understanding of the best type of home for him. A home visit and adoption donation is required.
We are looking for a home in which the people have breed experience and no children under the age of 12.
Sarge is going to make an excellent companion and member of the family and we are committed to finding him his absolute forever home. Chows are a sensitive and loyal breed and his whole world has been turned upside down. It’s absolutely heartbreaking.
