Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Walter was found living on the streets in the worst part of our very hard winter of 2008/9. He was rescued by a lady who knew about Cowichan Cat Rescue, having saved several other cats for us in the past. She thought she had found a young sick female kitty who had been severely burned somehow and was told over the phone to take "her' to the vet to be treated for whatever her problems might be and to be vaccinated and spayed. Much to everyone's surprise, the little girl turned out to be a neutered boy! He was terribly thin and about two thirds of his body was bald and covered with a dreadful red rash -- not burns but a severe flea allergy. After a couple of days in his foster home he was named Walter -- because he reminded his foster mom of Walter Matthau being a Grumpy Old Man! Everything bothered Walter! But as he got over his allergy and started to gain weight it became clear that Walter had once been a very well loved cat. He liked only the best quality food and the comfiest beds and he really did not understand why he could not help himself to any treats he could find. The better Walter felt, the nicer he got. Soon he was helping his foster mom work in the garden and enjoying his new life. Unfortunately, Walter does not love to be surrounded by young kittens, although he likes other adult cats, and so he cannot stay in his foster home but must find another home, one with a garden he can help with and no pesky kittens or fleas to make his life a misery.
