Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Chewbacca is a gorgeous chestnut red colored long haired dachshund puppy recently released from a commercial breeding facility. He's only about 7 months old (DOB: 7/15/2019) and weighs in at a sturdy 15 lbs (which is how he got his name.) Chewbacca is all puppy. He's curious, energetic, loves running around outside and rarely stops moving. He is just learning how to play with toys, so he often goes for less appropriate things, like shredding paper and running off with shoes. His foster says he almost always has something in his mouth that he shouldn't have. Like most puppies, he will need a little guidance about which objects are his toys and which are not.
Chewie a loving little guy and is immediately best friends with everyone he meets. He's always on the move, so when he shows affection, he runs himself right into your face and chest full speed for a quick hug. We don't think he realizes he's 15 lbs, but we're sure with a little guidance and age he will learn to give less "smothering" cuddles. He would be best in a home without toddlers since he would knock them over without intending to. Chewbacca is working on crate training, potty training, and using the stairs. He will need a fenced yard to burn off some of his puppy energy and a resident dog to help show him the ropes since he's just learning about life outside the commercial breeding facility.
Overall, Chewie is just a pure silly, loving, energetic puppy that is always happy and always busy. If you are ready to add this little wookie to your life, apply to adopt Chewie today!
The suggested adoption donation for Chewbacca is a minimum of $400 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit. Approved adopters are required to travel to Omaha, NE to pick up their newly adopted dog. We do not arrange transport, or fly our rescue dogs without a "pet nanny". A securely fenced yard is necessary to adopt one of our terriers. Please note, invisible or underground fencing is not considered secure or appropriate containment for terriers.Adoption applications can be found at www.wagntrainterrierrescue.com/adoption-information
