My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What is your name? Lux

How old are you? About 8 months old (a/o 2/01/20)

How much do you weigh? 50 lbs

What do you look like? I am a classic chocolate Doberman Pinscher with super long legs and a slim build. I have big floppy ears and big brown eyes.

What do you like to eat? Kibble and treats! I love chicken too!

What kind of personality do you have? I love to chat with my foster mom, she asks me questions and I answer back. She says I am quirky and funny but with a real soft side. I like to cuddle and am sweeter than sugar!

Describe your perfect day: The day that I know, I have a forever person and they chose me to be part of their family forever that will be my perfect day.

What is your favorite toy? More than toys I like to play with my dog foster brothers! Even when I was on bed rest because of my arm casts, they made time to play with me in bed. Now I am able to run around as a healthy boy and chase them!

Do you know any tricks? I just recently learned how to walk again with that said, I am a quick learner and I love to try new things. Part of my rehab has been to learn “shake” which I am getting good at.

What scares you? I prefer to be around my humans at bedtime. I am not destructive but I might cry in my crate for a bit.

Have you been around children? Do you like them? I LOVE KIDS! They are so fun. I have hung out with a 4 year old and even a little baby.

Do you like cats? Cats? Not sure….So it would be best I go to a cat free home.

How do you feel about other dogs? I am great with other dogs. I want to be friends with everybody

If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be? Snoozing in my human’s lap. I may be long, but I am still a great lap dog, at least I think so.

How is your health? I am still working out some kinks from two broken legs I suffered this summer, but I am taking my recovery head on! Sometimes my foster mom and dad even beg me to slow down!

Who do you live with your foster home and who is your closest companion? I have a foster mom and dad and two foster brothers that are dogs, like me! Meep is the youngest one and he plays with me all the time. I love him for that! Bowie wrestles with me too but mostly he shows me how to investigate things around the yard and he also teaches me manners. I could not ask for better friends.

Where do you hang out when you are home alone? I have a large pen with a big bed in it. Similar to a crate.

Where do you sleep? I sleep in my pen; if I make a fuss sometimes, my foster dad will fall asleep on the couch with me. I hope when I am in my forever home I will be sleeping in a dog bed near my family or with the other pets in the house.

Do you like walking on a leash? I am doing ok on the leash. My foster mom say I need to work on not barking at people. I get frustrated if I cannot meet people on the other side of the street so I can be vocal about it.

Do you have any "not-so-great" habits that we should know about? For instance, do you bark or dig in the yard? I am a “chatty boy,” as my foster mom likes to say. I want to keep my family safe so when I hear weird noises I bark them away!

Are you house trained? (Meaning do you go potty outside) I am a very good boy and I do not potty in the house!

Do you like water? I have been ok in the bath but so far, that is my only experience with water.

What do you love about your foster family? I love that they took the time to let me heal and that they showed me what it is like to be part of a family. Even if this is not “my” forever family, I know I will leave knowing how to give and receive TONS of love.

What was your life like before NorCal Bully Breed Rescue? NBBR got me out of the shelter and immediately into the vet that saved my legs. Many people thought there was no hope for me after being hit by a car and left on the road. I am here because these people saw a beautiful life and not a broken dog. I have a future because of NBBR and I have a chance to complete somebody’s family. I am so excited!

NorCal Bully Breed Rescue is a foster based rescue with foster homes spread all throughout the Sacramento area. We usually require our adopters to be within a 50 to 100 mile radius of us, depending on the dog, and depending on the home. This is because we need to do a yard check to guarantee that the potential adopter's yard is secure, and also have them be close enough should any behavioral issues arise, and the assistance of our trainer is needed. We are, however, willing to adopt out of our area, including the Bay Area, Tahoe, and even further. We've even adopted out of state on very special occasions. We try our best to match our dogs to the perfect homes, and match them based on their personalities, not their looks. Adoptions are not done on a first come, first serve basis, rather in the order of what homes are the right match for that particular dog. Our adoption fees are based on the dog and range from $200-$500. In the case of senior dogs (6+ years), fees will be waived to the right home. This includes spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and deworming (if necessary).

Lux's adoption donation is $500.

Interested in meeting Lux or any of our available pooches? Complete and submit our adoption application on our website norcalbullybreedrescue.com and we will respond to you within 24 to 48 hours.
