Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Nikki is a 4 year old chihuahua/corgi mix (we think). She weighs about 10 pounds, but could stand to gain a pound.
Nikki is now allowing my husband to pet her and follows him around, too. She has gained some weight and will be spayed on 8/11/09.
Nikki is awesome on a leash and pays close attention to her foster mom's feet, stopping when she stops, etc. She does not pull but stays right beside her person. She gets very excited to see the leash. She is playful and gentle with the other dogs and loves her stuffed elephant, often running around the house with it in her mouth and falling asleep with her head on it like a pillow. Nikki is very endearing and loves affection now.
She continues to learn and has made excellent progress meeting strangers and accepting them.. She regularly accompanies her foster mom to feed the horses and stays close to her person, paying no attention to the horses but walking right past them bravely.
This girl will make a very loyal, loving companion.
Nikki came from an abusive background - she is a bit shy, but loves to be near her foster mom and follows her everywhere.
Nikki will need a confident, calm owner. And having something fun to do would be good for her. We were originally told she might have yorkie in her - but she loves to herd all the other dogs in the house, and her body type resembles a corgi very much. No matter what she is, she is adorable!
Because of her background and her herding instincts, Nikki would do best in a home without small children. It takes some time for her to warm up to men, but with the right gentleman in her home that can treat her with patience and love, she should come around.
Please check back for updates and more pictures - but isn't she beautiful?!?! This little girl will make someone a great companion!
Before you decide to adopt a dog - please remember that having a canine companion can be expensive! Vet bills run an average of $200 to $300 per year!
