Rogue is a 2-year-old female German Shepherd mix. As a young pup, she was found abandoned in a remote area in rough shape, but she's no longer the shy, fearful girl she was then! Her namesake comes from the X-Men character Rogue, known for her strength in overcoming a troubled past and the white strand in her hair (which Rogue, the dog, also has on her chest!). She's great off-leash, because she wants to be wherever you are, doing whatever you're doing!

When you're not home, however, Rogue gets a little nervous, not knowing where you are, and turns into a little Harry Houdini. She's very skilled in her craft and can dig under your average run-of-the-mill fence, so it would be best if your yard was equipped to handle dogs that dig, so she can't escape!

Rogue is a highly energetic and anxious dog, so she needs abundant reassurance and reinforcement and consistency in her training to help her feel more secure. She loves the security of her crate, especially if she has her bed inside and a blanket on top to keep it dark and cozy! Thunderstorms and loud events such as Independence Day and New Year's make Rogue very anxious. Medications have proven to relax her, but mostly during these times, she just wants you to hold her as close to you as possible.

One area Rogue thrives in is agility! She is a fast learner, absolutely loves to climb on anything and everything, and wants to do activities with her favorite person (you!), making agility her favorite activity in the world. She's only been a few times, but it's obvious, she takes to it like a fish to water! In addition to the agility training, Rogue knows a few basic commands, including "sit," "go lay down," and "here," and is house broken, with the exception of the occasional "nervous pee" whenever she's scared.

Though she's about as sweet as a dog can be with most other dogs, there are certain ones she simply doesn't get along with, particularly small female dogs. She needs to be in a home with preferably no other dogs, but she would do okay with a new doggy brother, as long as he was about her size! She loves kiddos, too, but because she's a nervous Nellie, she is much happier in a quiet environment, so a home without young kids is preferred as well. Cats are pretty fascinating to Rogue! She hasn't interacted much with cats, but the few interactions she has had would suggest that a home without cats is probably best as well.
