My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NAME: Darla
BREED: Shepherd / Lab Mix
GENDER: Female
WEIGHT: 45-50 lbs
AGE: DOB: 05-12-19
LOCATION: Winnsboro, LA
DONATION: Adoption Donation: $450.00 includes transport and vaccinations for a year

DARLA AND DEXTER CAME TOGETHER --- THEY ARE VERY FOND OF EACH OTHER THEY ARE NOT SIBLINGS....HOWEVER, THE FOSTER SAYS SHE WOULDN’T SAY
THEY WERE BONDED SO STRONG THAT THEY COULDN’T BE SEPARATED...
BUT, THEY COULD BUT THEY ARE REALLY GREAT TOGETHER

ADOPTED ON 04-18-20 - Darla is a healthy playful and frisky little pup; she can hold her own wrestling with her brother for sure! She also loves to chill out and snuggle after her play time. She is a very sweet, cheerful, a social dog. She would be a very valuable family member and a precious companion. She is an easy-going and affable to children and other pets in the household.

Darla is very young, she is 7-8 months and has gained weight and she haven’t missed any meals.
Their foster tells us that: these are some of the smartest little puppies that she has ever fostered! They catch on extremely fast and will make excellent companions to some lucky family!”

Dexter and Darla’s Rescue were rescued together, sadly, they belong to an alcoholic. We never think of dogs being victims of alcoholics, they can’t understand the disease or go to meetings for help. Their owners never took care of them as they should. The poor dogs roamed constantly on search of food and came to our southern partner’s house several times to eat—they knew they would get fed there. They also frequently went to the neighbors’ homes, then, calls started coming in to our partner from several neighbors, Dexter and Darla were at their houses in search of food. These sweet babies were grateful, they were never destructive, only sniffing and hunting for food.

The situation became urgent when they were at our partners home; as they got close to her house ... they almost got hit by oncoming traffic. That was it, she could not sit back any longer, her heart went out to these two precious dogs, she felt that they deserved better than an alcoholic/ drug dependent owner who only feeds them occasionally—that is if they remember to and have enough money for food! On this final visit, not only did she feed them but they both joined her pack right away without any problems. After several weeks, not one time did anyone come looking for them or asking about them. It was clear that Darla and Dexter were not really valued and loved as they deserve. Both are wonderful dogs who deserve a great life!

If you are looking to make a difference this year to a deserving dog in need, then don’t wait; Darla is ready for adoption and to come north. Darla is ready to slide right into your heart; do you have the requirements of a forever home of her own and endless love to celebrate her special qualities? Now all she needs is many years where she can continue to be a happy and loyal member of a family. Darla is ready, able and willing to steal your heart and rock your world. She’ll certainly take your happiness level up a few notches, and provide hours of laughter with her snatch and run games of—chase me. Her foster says that when she pets the side of her face, she narrows and closes his eyes as if to expressing that it feels so goo

An ideal home for her would be one where she can be with his humans and go with them wherever she goes. She has a laid-back personality so she would be a great match if there was another dog to play and romp with and share his days, though it’s not mandatory. A fence would be helpful however, if she is walked, she will need extra walks until she is older. She adores humans and she always will repay her appreciation with unconditional devotion. This attentive and smart little gal is just looking for love and a home. She has proven herself to be utterly deserving of the best and we are committed to see that she gets that.
Will you open your heart to her and give her the love she so deserves? In return, her companionship and friendship will be with you every day.

ABOUT THE BREED GERMAN SHEPHERDS:
German Shepherds are friendly but have calm confidence about them, they may seem kind of reserved. Most GS owners say that the characteristics of German Shepherds are that incredibly loyal, and friendly. When in need, however, a German Shepherd is instantly ready to protect, play a game or perform a task—in some cases as a guard dog, police dog, herder or seeing eye dog. With a strong work ethic and an eager intelligence, GS breeds are good with other dogs and children especially if they have been exposure to them.

Please know our adoption donations never cover our expenses. We rely on the generosity of our adopters and supporters to help us help the dogs.

Our rescue is ONLY in the business of offering FULL DISCLOSURE to adopters, and expects and hopes to engage your questions and concerns fully. We owe it to the dogs we rescue and all the wonderful families/adopters who might consider welcoming our charges into their hearts and home. Our dogs are waiting for that ideal forever home where they will be cherihed as deserving family members. It's sad these second chances are even necessary for these dogs, but we are committed to them and will devote the time and energy to their re-homing, and not just MOVE them to save more dogs. We diligently and responsibly seek good matches, as we don't want to re-home the dog again. These animals have already endured more than they should have, and through no fault of their own. It behooves us to be honest and forthright, and we appreciate the same in return from applicants. It's that winning combination of reciprocal trust and respect that allows for successful placements to be made. Happy adopters translate to happy dogs, and that's our goal!

Our rescue volunteers will be more than honored to be in touch with you directly and promptly, after receiving your application and conducting a mandatory a veterinarian check. If you have never owned a dog before, please submit your application regardless, and we will be in touch with you as soon as possible. TAKE NOTE YOU SHOULD CHECK YOUR SPAM AS SOME RESPONSES FROM US WIND UP THERE WE'VE DISCOVERED.
