Here's what the humans have to say about me:
The Backstory: We were contacted by a friend of the rescue about a co-worker of hers who owned a black female Labrador Retriever that gave birth to 10 puppies. He told her he was moving back to Mexico in the next week and that he was going to dump his dog and her 10 puppies in the busy parking lot at the local Walmart in 4 days. That made us angry and sad. Of course, we couldn't let that happen to these innocent dogs. The puppies are only a little over 6 weeks old. We told her to go ahead and pick them up and we would take them into rescue to find appropriate and responsible homes for them. When she picked them up they were out in the field eating a dead buzzard. Those poor dogs had to have been so very hungry to do that. They were full of fleas and worms. They were immediately taken to our vet and are all safe with us now. They have been given vaccinations, have been dewormed, have been given flea and heartworm preventative and microchipped. They now have full bellies of appropriate puppy food. Whew! What a lot of puppies! We are told that the dad of the puppies is the neighbor's dog, a white Siberian Husky. The mother Labrador, who we have named Sabrina, is also safe in rescue and she is available for adoption, as well.
Golda is one of the 10 puppies and she is absolutely adorable. Being that she is 6 weeks old, she enjoys the company of people, other dogs and cats. At this age, she just wants to play, eat and sleep! Judging by the stature of her mother, we estimate that she will be a medium sized dog, probably around 40-50 pounds. Golda will be ready to go to her adopter upon receiving her second set of vaccinations. Golda's adoption fee is $350; however, we will require an additional $100 deposit which will be refunded to her adopter upon showing us proof of spay when she is old enough to be spayed (spaying is required). Golda is currently in her foster home in Houston, TX.
