My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Celeste is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH), female, DOB: 11/15/17.

Highly social, interested, inquisitive, and entirely easy-to-please, Celeste is an extremely sweet, friendly, and very loving cat. Both somewhat of a matriarch and a feline ambassador, she is welcoming and affectionate toward other cats and kittens (even patient with high-maintenance temperaments) and absolutely fawning and adoring with humans when she is comfortable in her surroundings; she is also comfortable with calm, cat-friendly canines and shows little awareness of any possible dangers in the world when she is on the prowl and independently exploring her environments nooks and crannies. An intelligent, super sweet and gentle beauty – lively and animated with an entirely engaging personality, Celeste is a people-cat and great companion to one and all.

Although typically an undemanding, calm and quiet cat who is happy just to be in the presence of people and near family activities, she thrives with attention, appreciates having her coat brushed regularly, and would love to have a window perch where she will sleep and enjoy spending much time throughout the day. Celeste also has a youthful, very kitten-like and coyly impish-side, albeit it entirely well-intentioned and maybe just a tad-bit quirky (for example, she likes to watch the world from under her bed until she is completely comfortable in her surroundings), which she will unveil once she settles in – this will happen quickly as she trusts and loves people she knows freely and without many inhibitions.

Although we think Celeste will do well in just about any home environment with just about any lifestyle so long as she is given the time she needs to settle in, and she is welcomed as a lifelong, cherished family member who is included in daily household activities, we will only place her in a home with compatible canines and/or felines known to be cat-tolerant or friendly, and without active or unruly young children under the age of six (6) because of her completely open and trusting nature with all.

Celeste came to Monroe SPCA in a joint rescue effort with animal control with four (4) other family members coming to Monroe SPCA including Smudge, Solaire, Krissy, and Kringle, (four [4] other family members from the same trailer went to animal control at the same time). Celeste has been treated for URI, ear mites, fleas, and intestinal parasites while with Monroe SPCA.

Now a healthy, happy cat, she’s looking for a forever family who will welcome and embrace her as a life-long, beloved companion and family member, and always appreciate her for the sweet, gentle soul she is.

Celeste currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet her Tuesday – Thursday, 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm; Friday and Saturday, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm; or by appointment; closed Sunday, Monday, and National Holidays. To start the adoption process for Celeste, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above.

All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption.
