My name is Monty!

UPDATED BIO 08-15-09: Monty is a very sweet 2 year old, 12 pound yorkie boy who is being fostered in Jupiter, FL. Here's what Monty recently wanted everyone to know about him............


Monty here - I'm lookin' for love and a home of my very own. I have come so far since I have been in my foster home. My hair has grown since my initial shaving and I am a very handsome dude. I still like to run around, but I am not running out the door anymore. I sit on command and always sit politely when Foster Mom feeds me or pulls out a treat. I love to walk on my leash and get all excited when FM shows it to me. I get along with everybody and if I see a vacant lap, I am in it! I know that I am supposed to pee-pee outside but FM is gone all day sometimes, so I wear a belly band on those days just so I don't have to worry about it. My ideal home would have a fenced-in yard, OR my new family must like to go on joywalks as I need to be on a leash. FM lets me and my sisters sleep on her bed so I hope that will continue as I am a cuddler! You won't be sorry if you adopt this little love-bug!



UPDATED BIO 07-14-09: Monty is a very sweet 2 y/o 12# yorkie boy who is being fostered in Jupiter, FL. Foster Mom recently had Monty for two days alone while the other dogs were off visiting with FD. He is excellent without other dogs around, although he also gets along with other dogs. Monty fills his 'alone' time with the bundle of doggie toys he's collected. He is just a sweetheart and loves to be held and kissed; oh, he also loves to chew on chewy bones, too - you know, when he's not busy being adored :) Monty has mastered the doggie door now, and will go out to do his business - what a smart boy! FM and FD have even taught him to "sit" and "stay" ......listen to this.....he will even "stay" with a bowl of food on the floor in front of him - WOW! Monty loves to go on leash walks - he has a lot of energy and sometimes FM feels like Monty is walking her! Monty had to be completely shaved when he came into UYR as his hair was matted to the skin (ouch!); his coat is now growing out and he is positively handsome, with a gorgeous mixture of yorkie colors. He is very well-behaved when bathing and actually seems to enjoy it. Monty is ready for a permanent home and whoever adopts him will be lucky indeed.




UPDATED BIO 06/20/09: Monty is a very sweet 2 year old 12# boy who is being fostered in Jupiter, FL. Foster Mom says that to say he is a 'runner' is an understatement - she said that any chance he has to squeeze out of a doorway, he takes it and runs like the wind, never listening to commands to stop - he refuses to come back, no matter what FM has done. He can also jump a 4-1/2' fence - yikes! He needs to compete in the Doggie Olympics! Seriously, if his new owner would work with him, he would be a great dog to train for agility since he's a fast runner and can jump really high!


Monty is not yet housetrained, as it appears no one ever spent the time to teach him where it was appropriate and inappropriate to go potty! Foster Mom is working on it - on his walks he stops at every tree & bush, but he needs to learn that it's not good manners to go in the house.


Monty is neither a barker nor a licker. He is exceptionally sweet and affectionate; he loves laps and kisses. He is also very good with children and can be adopted into a home with children over the age of 10 y/o. Monty is also excellent when being introduced to other dogs and has even played in the dog park with all sizes and breeds of dogs, including a 70# golden-doodle. Please consider making Monty your new loveable companion. He is a darling little boy and is all set and ready to be adopted!




UPDATED BIO 6/20/2009: Monty is a sweet 2 year old 12# boy who is now being fostered in Jupiter, FL. Monty had his dental recent and only lost one tooth! FM really feels Monty would enjoy a home with another young, playful dog. He is fitting in marvelously in his new foster home, gets along with all the dogs, and just loves his humans. He also doesn't bark at all (though we can't promise that will last!)


Monty is a runner, however, and will bolt out the door at any chance he has.... so, while FM thinks Monty would do well with kids, we need to restrict him to homes with older kids where there will not be the opportunity for him to escape like the little Houdini he is.

UPDATED BIO 6/14/2009: Monty is a 2 y/ 12# Yorkie mix who was rescued from a high kill shelter recently. When he was rescued, you couldn't even see his face; he was matted and had been lying in his own excrement in his small shelter cage. Poor Monty even had a laceration on his chest which the shelter stitched up for him. Monty spent the first few days in his new foster home recovering from his neuter and adjusting to his new surroundings.


Well, Monty is like a new boy now! Monty was taken to K9 Kuts in Weston, FL where they had no choice but to give him a short "summer" cut to attempt to even him out. They did a fantastic job (thank you ladies!!)! He has a new spring in his step and LOVES to play with Gino, the other foster puppy in the home. Monty acts young for his age and loves everybody he meets. Monty is working on the housetraining issue, but we have hopes he will get the hang of it soon! In the meantime, Monty wears a belly band to keep him from wee-ing in the house.


Monty is scheduled to go for his dental this week. Then, he'll be ready for his FURever home! Please consider making room in your home and heart for sweet Monty :)


INITIAL BIO: MEET MONTY! He's a very cute 2 y/o 12# male yorkie who was in a high-kill shelter in South Florida and no one came to claim him. He is being fostered in Miramar, FL. Monty had a 4" cut between his front legs which required sutures - it is unknown how this injury happened, but it must have been very painful for him. He was so dirty and matted that it was difficult for Foster Mom to even see his eyes under all the matted hair. She had to snip away gently at the mats, which only revealed how very dirty this little boy was - and very smelly. He appears to be very sweet, however, and grateful to be rescued.
