My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NOTE: This dog is listed by Aretas Assistance Dogs, but the dog is located in Phoenix, AZ.

Hello, I'm Georgia!

Georgia is a 2-year-old short-haired All American mix, and weighs 29 lbs.

Georgia LOVES people! She cannot get enough petting and belly rubs and love! When Georgia joined her foster family, she had just been spayed and had a case of kennel cough. She was pretty miserable and in pain, but she is so people centered that she slowly got up from her bed at the shelter and came over to lick the foster’s hand.

Initially, Georgia was not familiar with staying in a crate, but came to her foster impeccably house trained. She didn’t understand the idea of taking treats and was shy. Since coming into foster, Georgia has learned to love her crate and eagerly works for treats. She is especially learning to love a stuffed Kong, and this keeps her happy and busy during the day. Her foster mom works from home, and Georgia happily hangs out quietly in her home office. Georgia also does very well in rooms that have been doggy-proofed.

When it’s not working hours, Georgia is a busy and active girl! She has a lot of energy and likes to play and show you her zoomies! She has learned to pull her foster dad on his skateboard and this has been a great outlet for her energy! Georgia would be an amazing running buddy!

Georgia has not been around kids with her foster family, so she’ll be carefully introduced to children to see how she feels about young humans. Her love of all adult people is a promising sign! She can be selective about other dogs, and seems to get along better with male dogs.

Georgia is still learning how to play with toys, but is making progress. She is also learning to sit for attention rather than putting her paws up on people. Her foster has been teaching her some simple skills like “sit”, “down” and "sit pretty" and she’s learning more every day.

Georgia needs a family that is eager to meet her energy and activity needs and where there are no cats!

Georgia’s foster family is happy to answer any specific questions you have about sweet Georgia, and has access to a certified professional dog trainer who is willing to consult about any training questions Georgia’s adopter may have.
